Rensselaer County is home to an incredible array of public parks, preserves, family farms – forming the foundation of our county's identity and sense of place.
Close and clean up the Dewey Landfill and Superfund Site in Nassau immediately.
Reconnect Castleton to its riverfront.
Support rural farmland preservation, family farming, and expanding connections of farms within our local markets.
Encourage rural preservation by working with land preservation funds and open space funds to preserve space and rural character.
Create a Rensselaer County Conservation Fund to purchase additional parks and open space, and create a comprehensive Rensselaer County Conservation Plan working with stakeholders. See: https://www.renstrust.org/protect/county-conservation-plan
Promote clean water infrastructure improvement projects through working with state and local governments, and reduce flooding by prioritizing county stormwater enforcement.
Support county wetland protection efforts.
Continue efforts to identify and prevent contamination of poly fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) throughout Rensselaer County.
Develop Rensselaer County’s cultural history and work with necessary entities to accomplish that goal.
